Appleton – Earlier today, Reid Ribble, a lifelong Wisconsin resident and 25 year business owner, filed his first quarterly fundraising report with the Federal Election Commission.  Ribble reported raising $130,291 since announcing his candidacy for Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District in July.

“I’m humbled to have the support from individuals who believe in me and my experience as a business leader and in my vision for our state and nation’s future,” said Ribble.  “The policies of tax and spend…and then borrow and spend trillions more, do not work and must stop.  My opponent is marching lockstep with Nancy Pelosi and taking this nation down a path which we cannot afford to continue.”

Ribble is a professional roofing contractor with over 40 full time employees in Kaukauna. He is in the middle of transitioning to being a fulltime candidate with the completion of the sale and transfer of his company two months from now to a third generation family member.

“The challenges facing the people of Wisconsin and our nation are severe and I’m committed to campaigning fulltime to talk with the voters of Wisconsin and earning their trust and vote. As I complete the transfer of my company I will be putting in the hours and work necessary on this campaign to be able to get my message out to the residents of District 8,” Ribble stated.

“These initial few months have been incredibly encouraging as I’ve only begun to lay the groundwork for this effort.  I’m a contractor, so I know the importance of a strong, firm foundation to build upon and I’m looking forward to the weeks and months ahead as we build from our initial foundation and this campaign truly begins to take shape. In fact, just in the last few weeks I have hired two full time staff members to assist me in building the campaign and to help me with the amount of work a winning effort will require.”

To give context on Ribble’s initial fundraising figure of $130,291, below are the amounts raised by the recent challenger candidates in their first filings for the election cycle.

  • In 2006’s open seat Steve Kagen raised $76,476 on his initial report (7/05 – 9/05).
  • In 2008 John Gard raised $114,509.35 on his initial report (7/07 – 9/07).
