This is My Country

by Reid Ribble

I attended the Tea Party in Marinette, Wisconsin this weekend. I so appreciate the work that the volunteer organizers of the Tea Party movement do each week in living out their convictions. Yet….I still have some concerns.

The meeting went on for about 2 ½ hours and a lot of good information was disseminated about the problems our country is facing. After a while it started to seem more like a forum to vent frustration rather than offer real solutions. It would have been easy to leave the meeting feeling bad about my country and the state of the Union. But I can’t.

I love this country. I have travelled to more than twenty countries in the last decade and have seen some wonderful scenery and met many wonderful people. However, I am always glad to come home. That is America to me. It’s home. It’s where I have worked and raised my family. It’s the home that my father as a US Marine fought for. It’s the place where my children and grandchildren will grow up and I want them to experience America in all its glory and splendor.

In spite of all the problems we face as a nation with such a troubled economy I can’t imagine living anywhere else. I still see her as the world’s greatest hope and inspiration. That’s why I am running for Congress.

Ribble is running against Steve Kagen for Congress in Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District.
