Appleton – Reid Ribble, Republican candidate for the 8th Congressional District, has transferred the ownership of his roofing business and will hit the campaign trail full-time.
Ribble, formerly a roofing contractor based in Kaukauna, sold the family of companies under The Ribble Group, to a third generation member of the family, his nephew, Troy Ribble. The companies include Security Roofing and Luebke Roofing.
“This closes one chapter of my life, and I can fully begin the next one,” Ribble, 53, said. “I’ve worked in the roofing industry for 35 years and have owned and operated this company for over 25 of those years. I’ve been blessed to have worked with many great customers, to have co-workers as friends, and am proud of the jobs we created in the Fox Valley. As I look back I am proud of what we were able to accomplish and the difference we’ve been able to make in the community. I’m looking forward to the next set of challenges and bringing commonsense business principles to Washington.”
Ribble took over the company from his father, Ray Ribble, in 1980. Reid officially sold the company on Tuesday, December 15.
“I am proud to pass on the family business to the next generation,” Ribble said. “I had been spending much of this quarter finalizing the details of the sale. Wrapping up nearly 30 years of work took far more time than I was expecting these past two months and I was unable to campaign as much as I’ve wanted. Getting this transfer completed will enable me to put all my energies into my campaign for the 8th Congressional District seat beginning the first quarter of 2010.”
Ribble continued, “The campaign for Congress and the need for a new voice in Washington requires my full effort and I simply was unable to do that while simultaneously completing the sale of my business. Neither my campaign nor my company was getting my best effort these past two months and so I’m excited about being able to focus on my campaign to put our nation back on the right track. ”
Ribble filed to run as a Republican for the seat currently held by Rep. Steve Kagen (WI-8) on July 4, 2009.
“Our country is headed in the wrong direction,” said Ribble. “Instead of just complaining about the situation, I decided that it was time for me to engage in the debate to fix it.”
